Still Getting Closer...

Anzac Day

We had to go up to the house so that Geoff could wire up the outdoor power points for the Envirocycle and Water Tank and as usual, I had a sticky at what the painters were up to and wasn't disappointed

They're all but finished but will obviously need to come back once the flooring is down to paint the skirtings

Not long now until hand over, I scribbled down what I thought was still to be done to which one would assume there would only be a couple of weeks involved...we'll see!

1. Door Handles
2. Kitchen drawer replaced, glass shelving and doors installed, handle on bin pull-out, face on dishwasher (fully integrated)
3. Flooring (starting 1st May)
4. Skirting put on
5. Skirting painted
6. Balcony rail install
7. Toilets hooked up
8. Mirrors and shower screens installed
9. Electrical fix out
10. Clean up both inside and out
11. Carpet Install
12. Iron bars on cellar door
13. Gas fire fitted
14. BBQ installed

So not much really and most of it is the fiddly stuff

Doors need a 2nd coat but looking great

How good does the entrance look

Loving the detail of the stairwell

Looking at the stairwell from the Theatre Room

Will be adding the moulding to the Rumpus as well...this room will be used as the Formal Dining now

Family room

The Theatre room has had a 2nd coat but may need a 3rd on the ceiling!

The worst of going with a darker paint colour...shows up all the flaws in the gyprock and plaster :(

Definitely needs a 3rd coat

Powder room even gets the moulding and skirting not tiled skirting!

My scullery

Shelves have finally been installed in the pantry! Still need to put the bottom one on
Can't wait to see the appliances in and the timber flooring against the white!

Nearing the End...

Such a busy couple of weeks since the Easter break, the tilers had come back to finish off the grout in the bathrooms.

For both last week and this week, it was all systems go! The painters had come back, the plumbers had installed the toilets, baths and tapware and sinks, the chippies were doing something (not sure what but they were there), Ben the sparky was there doing some work, the guys had also installed the fthe guys were installing the gas bottle and canister in the ground...yes in the ground, we don't want to see ugly gas bottles on the side of the house...yuk! there was even a few guys installing the over flow for the envirocycle, the gas heater was getting installed (well the fire box and flu anyway), and before we new it, the end was nearing

Leading up to Easter

The week leading up to Easter, the tilers were out on site finishing what they could as they were still waiting on the kitchen tiles to arrive. The carpenters had installed all the doors and did the architraves and skirting however, I noticed that they had put the wrong doors in the foyer and Theatre room. These should be swapped around! The Cellar door is on but am awaiting the ironwork which hopefully will be installed after the Easter break.
Ben (# 1 son) is coming up on good Friday (next Friday) to install the theatre platform...soooo can't wait
Geoff is getting used to the tiles in the laundry though is still waiting to make final judgment when it's all finished and we're finally in!

We've been trying to get a final date for hand over from the SS but he' s hesitant and keeps saying "I'll let you know next week"!

The kitchen benchtops have been put on as well as the outdoor kitchen and I am happy with the choice and cant wait to see how all the appliances look once they're in

I decided to do away with the niches in the ensuite after all as they were going to be at tile height. I have always said that they were put in too low but the SS didn't relay it back to the carpenters until the tilers came and by that time, it was too late to move them higher grrrrr
I did however decide to keep the one in the main bathroom, it didn't look too bad and now that it's fully tiled, it looks pretty good to me (forgot to take a pic of it) and will do
Some more painting had been done though I really don't know why they keep coming and going, they should just wait until everything's done and finish it off in one go!

I'm a little unsure whether I like the capping in the bathrooms, I guess I will have to wait and see how it looks once everything is completed before I judge and if I don't like it then, I can probably just take them off?

Now we're in
