Progress, progress, progress

Since I didn't have to start work until 1pm today, Geoff and I went up to the house to check out the flooring and to see how far the guys had gotten too

Tii had been in constant touch with me through the whole time yesterday and sent through some more pics via email and boy was I excited just seeing those so can you imagine my surprise when we arrived?

As expected, 2 of Tii's installers were well at it and obviously had been up there for a while before we had arrived.

Like the troopers they are, hard at it again and working consistently to get it finished in time

I took one look at the stairs and was immediately impressed. I can not wait to see it all once all the protective covering gets taken off so I am counting down that's for sure

Remember, if you EVER want to have your floors look as amazing as ours, don't hesitate to get Tii to give you a quote, you WON'T regret it trust me

Take a look for yourself...

Flooring continued...

Geoff had to go up to the house this morning to move all the remaining electrical stuff from under the stairs so the guys could continue with the flooring under there.

Whilst there, he sent through some more pics of what's happened so far...check it out

The upstairs sitting room...trust me, the fan is timber not black!

                                                                              Master Bed

The underlay down and ready for the timber

Our load centre is in the garage

One of the many Clipsal up/down wall lights installed so far, and yes, they are a more modern light but Geoff refused to let me buy coach lights and really, the façade is more of the modern farmhouse than anything else so I had to give in somewhere and let him win 1 argument at least!

The flooring...

So excited for today as we wait for some progress photos from our flooring guys here who are starting on the flooring today yay :)

Tii (our sales rep) kept me informed of what the guys were up too as well as sending some snaps on how it was coming along.

Of course and as to be expected, nothing ever goes to plan and they certainly hit some road bumps with the foyer steps!

Since they were going to start with the stairs, Ben had told Geoff yesterday that he wanted them to hold off on doing them today since he's going to be going up and down them all day doing the electrical and didn't want to be disrupting their progress so asked if I could get them to start somewhere else for the day and so I did

I digress! Now to get back to where I was in the beginning, the first bump was as I said, the foyer step...let me remind you of what it looks like...(the brick one)

see how the moulding goes down to it a fair way? Well, apparently (according to the chippie that we spoke to the Saturday just gone) the skirting doesn't go on that step, hence how low the that moulding is and how big the skirting is!

So the dilemma is, when they put the flooring down, there's a massive gap in the gyprock which won't cover the edge of the timber on the left side which leaves us with either, needing to put quad to cover it or we try to cut down the size of the skirting (which will look odd) and put it under the moulding to cover it or, get the chippie to remove the bottom moulding, shorten the sides enough so the skirting can go back on and then replace the bottom moulding again!

In my head, I'd so much rather the last option and believe it to be the best one for consistency

So after letting Tii know of what we'll get done, they continued the rest so they could start the stairs so that Ben could work on the outside electrical

Here's what he sent through last night...

The foyer steps

Can you just imagine how it'll look when the skirting goes back on?

From the foyer looking into the guest bed

The study

Looking back at the front porch

Looking at the stairs from the Theatre Room

The Cellar from the kitchen/family room entry

From the stairs looking towards the foyer

Look at how the top step looks seamless, you would think it was just 1 step down but in fact, it's 2 ahhhhh.....love it!

Almost done..

As we're nearing the end, I had word from the SS that the hand over date will be Friday the 11th May woohoo

With only a few more things to be done...the fiddley bits, we are almost at completion and following my calendar, it'll be 40 weeks of construction

We are extremely happy with the quality of the build and lucky for us, if something needed fixing or replacing, they did it straight away which is sooooo much better than waiting to do it at the last minute and possibly holding off on the hand over!

The electrician will start with the fitting of the lights and all the switches and GPO's (power points) on Monday so that he isn't going to be in the way of the flooring going down on Tuesday. Then he'll probably continue the following couple of days upstairs so the guys can continue the flooring downstairs so they can finish up on Thursday

Then once the flooring is in, the chippies can come back and put the skirting back on so the painters can finish off with both that and the final bits of moulding

It looked like they had been back to do another coat of paint in the theatre room...woohoo now I don't have too :)
They gave the front doors their final coat too and they look amazing. The kitchen guy has been back too 'cos I noticed my glass doors were back on again and with the glass inserts!

The shower screens are in along with the mirrors....now this is a sore subject at the moment! As soon as I seen the mirrors I thought "What tha" they're way too small and certainly not the size I asked for! So we are getting them replaced quick sticks!

We both agreed that the shower screen in  the main bathroom is way too big and will need cutting back. When we measured it off with the SS, the bath wasn't in so we went gun ho on what the size should be and of course didn't even consider how much it would interfere with the walk way past the bath. So a big mistake on all accounts

Can't wait until they clean up and take those awful stickers off the windows

In love with the colour 'Domino'

Hoping the colour of the handrail (Black Japan) won't be too dark for the flooring and will be a nice contrast

Love looking down from the stairs and can't wait for the iron work to go on the cellar door

the mirror and glass shelf has been installed

the chippie has come back to finish off the rest of the moulding

Painters have put a 3rd coat on

Last shelf installed

Glass doors back on

This is where the TV was going but we changed our mind and put it on the left wall instead. I'll get Ben (no 1 son) to put a floating shelf here

See what I mean about the mirror being way too small

Shower screen way too big :( if  we could've moved the bath further down the other end, it would be fine, but too late now!

Now we're in
