The Last Leg...

As we near the end, Ben the sparky was on site as promised to start the electrical fix out before the flooring guys started the next day. Since we were supplying all the electrical, Geoff went up to make sure Ben had all that he needed and whilst there, spoke to the SS to tell him to re do the mirrors and get the glass in the main shower cut down. The SS wasn't too happy about the replacing the mirrors and kept saying that they are the ones 'WE' ordered which is total crap!

We also discovered that the space where the outdoor fridge will go in the outdoor kitchen is now too low with the tiles under and unfortunately we can't adjust the height on either  the fridge or the bench so we're going to have to buy a new one...grrrr

Geoff face timed me (I was at home getting ready for work) to show me the lights so far and boy was I excited. Ben must've got up there at the crack of dawn with all that he had done so far! I mean, Geoff got there around 7ish which I thought was early enough and certainly didn't expect anyone on site until after that!

Most of the downlights were installed (ground floor), my kitchen pendants, dining room pendants and even a fan in the family room had been done and....some switches and power points! Pretty good effort I thought

Take a look...

Almost done..

As we're nearing the end, I had word from the SS that the hand over date will be Friday the 11th May woohoo

With only a few more things to be done...the fiddley bits, we are almost at completion and following my calendar, it'll be 40 weeks of construction

We are extremely happy with the quality of the build and lucky for us, if something needed fixing or replacing, they did it straight away which is sooooo much better than waiting to do it at the last minute and possibly holding off on the hand over!

The electrician will start with the fitting of the lights and all the switches and GPO's (power points) on Monday so that he isn't going to be in the way of the flooring going down on Tuesday. Then he'll probably continue the following couple of days upstairs so the guys can continue the flooring downstairs so they can finish up on Thursday

Then once the flooring is in, the chippies can come back and put the skirting back on so the painters can finish off with both that and the final bits of moulding

It looked like they had been back to do another coat of paint in the theatre room...woohoo now I don't have too :)
They gave the front doors their final coat too and they look amazing. The kitchen guy has been back too 'cos I noticed my glass doors were back on again and with the glass inserts!

The shower screens are in along with the mirrors....now this is a sore subject at the moment! As soon as I seen the mirrors I thought "What tha" they're way too small and certainly not the size I asked for! So we are getting them replaced quick sticks!

We both agreed that the shower screen in  the main bathroom is way too big and will need cutting back. When we measured it off with the SS, the bath wasn't in so we went gun ho on what the size should be and of course didn't even consider how much it would interfere with the walk way past the bath. So a big mistake on all accounts

Can't wait until they clean up and take those awful stickers off the windows

In love with the colour 'Domino'

Hoping the colour of the handrail (Black Japan) won't be too dark for the flooring and will be a nice contrast

Love looking down from the stairs and can't wait for the iron work to go on the cellar door

the mirror and glass shelf has been installed

the chippie has come back to finish off the rest of the moulding

Painters have put a 3rd coat on

Last shelf installed

Glass doors back on

This is where the TV was going but we changed our mind and put it on the left wall instead. I'll get Ben (no 1 son) to put a floating shelf here

Guest Ensuite

See what I mean about the mirror being way too small

Shower screen way too big :( if  we could've moved the bath further down the other end, it would be fine, but too late now!

Still Getting Closer...

Anzac Day

We had to go up to the house so that Geoff could wire up the outdoor power points for the Envirocycle and Water Tank and as usual, I had a sticky at what the painters were up to and wasn't disappointed

They're all but finished but will obviously need to come back once the flooring is down to paint the skirtings

Not long now until hand over, I scribbled down what I thought was still to be done to which one would assume there would only be a couple of weeks involved...we'll see!

1. Door Handles
2. Kitchen drawer replaced, glass shelving and doors installed, handle on bin pull-out, face on dishwasher (fully integrated)
3. Flooring (starting 1st May)
4. Skirting put on
5. Skirting painted
6. Balcony rail install
7. Toilets hooked up
8. Mirrors and shower screens installed
9. Electrical fix out
10. Clean up both inside and out
11. Carpet Install
12. Iron bars on cellar door
13. Gas fire fitted
14. BBQ installed

So not much really and most of it is the fiddly stuff

Doors need a 2nd coat but looking great

How good does the entrance look

Looking towards the Guest Bedroom from the Entrance
Looking towards the Study and Entrance from Guest bedroom
Loving the detail of the stairwell

Looking at the stairwell from the Theatre Room

Will be adding the moulding to the Rumpus as well...this room will be used as the Formal Dining now

Family room

The Theatre room has had a 2nd coat but may need a 3rd on the ceiling!

The worst of going with a darker paint colour...shows up all the flaws in the gyprock and plaster :(

Definitely needs a 3rd coat

Powder room even gets the moulding and skirting not tiled skirting!

My scullery

Shelves have finally been installed in the pantry! Still need to put the bottom one on
Can't wait to see the appliances in and the timber flooring against the white!

Now we're in
