Week One...

We've finally turned dirt...hip, hip hooray!

It's certainly been a loooong wait but we're finally underway and we couldn't be happier
Peter, our supervisor rang early Monday morning to both introduce himself as well as tell us that they will be excavating early Tuesday morning and pouring the piers on Friday morning...say what!

Since I was having a weeks holiday off work, I picked up number 4 son from school on the Tuesday afternoon and we headed straight out to the property which is a 15 minute drive but seems soooooo far away when your anxious

As soon as we got closer, we could see how much dirt was actually turned. We knew it was going to be a big home on paper, but its not until you see the building pad, that you realise the actual size the home will be

Sure we've gone up there to measure it all out (several times) and imagine what it'd look like, but this puts it all into prospective now

On Friday we went up again and they were still digging the last few piers.  We waited until Peter was free and went through a few things while we were waiting on the concrete trucks to arrive

I'm a firm believer in the saying, "If you don't ask, you don't get" and if I hadn't asked Peter if we could change a few minute things it would've been too late if we had left it any longer!

The first thing we wanted to ask was adding a tap point for behind the fridge, when he said they would've already put that in as it's something they always do anyway...tick

2nd thing was to have the window in the theatre room moved back about 600mm so we can add built in cabinetry beside the cinema screen for all the sound system...tick

3rd was moving the fridge into the scullery so I can have more cabinets in the kitchen. This will mean that the wall adjacent will need to be moved 100mm which is no biggy. I've already designed what I want and can't wait for our kitchen appointment...I'm sure it'll be $$$$ more
