Ben (#1 Son) came up to install the theatre platform today and wow what a star. He done an excellent job with the help of my handy hubby at the helm and in that awful heat none the less
We had previously asked the SS to leave a window open or one of the doors unlocked for us to which he said not a problem. Problem was, he didn't let us know where he hid the darn thing so Geoff ended up having to climb up to the bedroom upstairs (lucky the window was open) to open the front door.
Since we couldn't find the key (it was hidden in the drawer in the outside kitchen), and having all the back locked up, it pretty much felt like an oven once the heat of the day was on top of us. What was 30 degrees outside, felt like 50 degrees inside...yuk!
We get a great breeze through the house when the front and back are all open!
The G-kids got a little flustered by the afternoon so Ze and I took them down to the river for a dip and tired them out lol
By the late afternoon, we all packed up and headed for home, ordered some pizzas, had showers and sat around having a lovely chat and admiring Ben and Geoff's work .
Here's the final outcome...300mm high x 4800mm wide x 2100mm deep with 2 side steps at 150mm high x 900mm wide and 300mm deep

Leading up to Easter
The week leading up to Easter, the tilers were out on site finishing what they could as they were still waiting on the kitchen tiles to arrive. The carpenters had installed all the doors and did the architraves and skirting however, I noticed that they had put the wrong doors in the foyer and Theatre room. These should be swapped around! The Cellar door is on but am awaiting the ironwork which hopefully will be installed after the Easter break.
Ben (# 1 son) is coming up on good Friday (next Friday) to install the theatre platform...soooo can't wait
Geoff is getting used to the tiles in the laundry though is still waiting to make final judgment when it's all finished and we're finally in!
We've been trying to get a final date for hand over from the SS but he' s hesitant and keeps saying "I'll let you know next week"!
The kitchen benchtops have been put on as well as the outdoor kitchen and I am happy with the choice and cant wait to see how all the appliances look once they're in
I decided to do away with the niches in the ensuite after all as they were going to be at tile height. I have always said that they were put in too low but the SS didn't relay it back to the carpenters until the tilers came and by that time, it was too late to move them higher grrrrr
I did however decide to keep the one in the main bathroom, it didn't look too bad and now that it's fully tiled, it looks pretty good to me (forgot to take a pic of it) and will do
Some more painting had been done though I really don't know why they keep coming and going, they should just wait until everything's done and finish it off in one go!
I'm a little unsure whether I like the capping in the bathrooms, I guess I will have to wait and see how it looks once everything is completed before I judge and if I don't like it then, I can probably just take them off?

Tiling almost complete
We went up to the house to see what had been done through the week and a lot had been done. The tilers continued on the wet areas and are all but finished with most of the walls in the showers.
The painters look like they've been back to do some more undercoating and they've even managed to finish off the gables
The glass had been installed in the bi fold doors which is a sign that we're almost at lock up!
Not sure why they've painted the theatre room the same colour as everywhere else, this room is suppose to be Dulux Domino so I would've expected a darker undercoat!
The stone tops had been installed except for the wine cellar and kitchen which is probably next week's job

Sneak Peak
Today after work we had to go up to the block to get the trailer out of the shed so Geoff could go and get some conduit so he could put the power cable through for the septic tank as the guys were coming tomorrow to hook it all up. I took a sneak peak of what the tilers had started and was super impressed.
Look at my Laundry tiles OMG |
They even finished the splashback! |
